Dream Offices
Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 09:49AM Unfortunately our office decor is often out of our control. Example given: Never in a million years would I have selected the items chosen to decorate the office of my first job as an investment banking analyst–engulfing aluminum cubicle partitions surrounded by blank walls lined with moving boxes, old 10Ks, and pitch books. Or, during my days on the trading floor, my top furniture choice was a far cry from one extra long desk to share with 19 other people.
For all of you out there day dreaming about decorating your own personal office to the MAX on your terms (hello! Kelly Wearstler wallpaper, natural sunlight, and fresh cut flowers delivered daily from Flowers on Lexington), the following are some nuggets of inspiration so that when the big day comes we are ready:

Sarah Story was on the NYJL House Tour. Great house! I also learned about Darryl Carter through the New York Times/ Arch Digest Design Expo. Impressed you spotted his talent, Laura. You've got quite an eye! I'll have to send you a photo of my cubicle... not as inspiring!
I love the second image. I can imagine reading by the fire in one of those luxurious chairs. The wall mounted shelves keep the clutter tucked away. Where is it from?
Martha Stewart's office looks like a set and she would be on stage to the rest of the office through the windows. I can see a row of 'minions' in the row of chairs against the wall!
I am trying to find an image of W creative director Dennis Freedman's office. It's functional, elegant and an art gallery at the same time!
